Brown trout fly fishing starts April 1st and ends October 3st. Trips are available for The Upper Manistee River, The Pine River, The Pere Marquette River, The Muskegon River and The Big Manistee River. Hot fun in the summer time!

Brown trout were first introduced to Michigan waters in the 1880s when they were planted in the Pere Marquette River. Michigan’s trout fishery is world class with thousands of miles of blue ribbon trout waters. It is also home to the largest mayfly in North America, the Hexagina limbata or "Hex". This hatch brings trophy browns in the 20”+ size to the dry fly at will.

In spring and early summer, streamer fly fishing will bring the large trout to the fly. Throughout the summer prolific hatches occur and have the trout scrambling for dry flies.

Brown trout! The pit bulls of the fast running streams. Spring (May) is one of the best times to hunt down this beautiful fish. We use large rabbit streamers or rubber leg marabou monsters to attract the aggressive nature of the trout out of the wood, to see flash of this powerful fighter. Summer time in Michigan can bring even more chances to catch a big brown trout with dry flies, hoppers and mice.
